Desire

You have to desire to see from a higher level than were you are, going beyond the normal.

Local churches come together for flood relief, revival

Just as flood waters have risen in disasters across the state due to Hurricane Florence, more than 20 Lexington churches will unite in anticipation of a wave of citywide revival and relief efforts.

Planning efforts began with Pastor Daryl Napper’s vision to help with hurricane relief through the Baptist convention.

Inspired by Psalms 121:2, the notion of a collective revival began brewing as Napper began to share his vision with the Lexington Community Ministers Conference and city leaders.

“We can do more together than apart,” Napper assured. “I hope to raise no less than $3,000 and be able to send a truckload of non-perishable items and water to assist victims who have been affected by the hurricane.”

Revival events will take place at First Baptist Church on 210 Village Drive on Oct. 16-18 at 7 p.m. Intercessory prayer begins at 6 each night along with a daily prayer line that will open at noon each day. For those seeking prayer, the phone number is (302) 202-1118 and use PIN 48469.

Nightly revival speakers on Oct. 16, Tuesday: Bishop James Woodson, Home of Fresh Start of Greensboro. On Oct. 17, Wednesday: Pastor Gloria Samuels of Greater Commission Community Church of Winston-Salem and on Oct. 18, Thursday: Dr. Nathan Scovens, Galilee Missionary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem. Items for the truck, including child and adult diapers, water and non-perishable food items can be dropped off from 5–7 p.m. daily at Servant’s House at 601 Cotton Grove Rd. or Life In The Word on 176 Meadow Dr.

Mayor Newell Clark and other members of the Lexington City Council have assisted with planning the relief endeavor.

“Rev. Napper reached out to me with an idea to help support folks from the eastern part of the state, as they work to rebuild their lives from this terrible disaster,” said Clark. “I appreciate Rev. Napper, all the ministers and others helping to organize an event to help bring some relief to our fellow North Carolinians.”

Pastor Arnetta Beverly of St. Stephen United Methodist Church welcomes the show of unity.

“I think it’s great that the clergy of Lexington has seen the need for sisters and brothers of all denominations and persuasions to come together to hear the word of God through the spoken word and through song,” she said. “I pray this will be a successful venture in the life of Lexington and Davidson County.”

Participating churches include: Buncombe Baptist, Deliverance Tabernacle, Ezekiel AME Zion, First Baptist Church of Village Drive, Files Chapel Baptist Church, Lexington Christian Fellowship, Life in the Word, New Deliverance Worship Center, New Faith Worship Center, New Jersey AME Zion, New Hope Holiness, New Life Worship Center, New Smith Grove Baptist, Oak Grove Baptist, Old Smith Grove Baptist, Saint Stephen United Methodist, Servant House Ministries, Salem Baptist, Shady Side Presbyterian, Union Baptist, Union Chapel AME Zion, United Baptist, Wings Of A Dove and Yadkin Star Baptist.

This series of events is slated to be one of the largest city-wide Hurricane Florence relief efforts.

“As North Carolinians we understand, all too well, the destruction a hurricane can cause. As a community, Lexington was spared any major long-term damage,” Clark offered. “I know the preparation our staff and people put into the work to be ready for the storm and since we were spared - we clearly know we need to help others. Because it could have been us, needing assistance.”

Unity Prayer Day

In the midst of tragedy and uncertainty, pastors from 11 local churches have been praying for unity in the community and in the nation.

These pastors began meeting shortly after the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, and now they are inviting the community to join Without Walls, a public day of activities, food, fellowship and prayer at the city of Lexington’s Breeden Insurance Amphitheatre from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 14

Pastors Eddie Scott of Life in the Word and Matt Leonard of Journey Church don’t take credit for bringing the group together.

“It was formed by God,” Leonard offered, describing the group’s origins. He approached Scott at breakfast shortly after a conference focused on the topic of unity and left with a desire to “do something. That urging led to a subsequent breakfast with Scott.

“We were just fellowshipping at breakfast one morning. I began to share with them a vision of churches coming together and us praying for the city and the nation,” Scott explained.

The two were immediately on one accord.

“Matt and myself clicked instantly and began to work toward that and talk to other pastors so we could pray together,” Scott said.

The group wishes to see churches unite and be an example for the community.

“We want to unify churches as well. So often churches compete with each other, but we all want the same thing,” Leonard assured. “We wanted to see the church be one and get rid of the division to come together and work together and love our community.”

Ben Landes, associate pastor at First Alliance Church, one of the organizers for Without Walls Day of Prayer, is coordinating volunteers for the three hours of prayer and praise time. Volunteers will host games for kids and serve free hot dogs and snacks. The event will feature music from praise bands from Journey Church, Life in the Word and Servant House Ministry. Various pastors will speak for five to 10 minutes throughout the day, but Landes explained the primary focus is prayer.

“We thought it would be great to do something in our community to show the unity of Christ and show people the love,” he said.

People are invited to pray in small groups and the ministers will provide a prayer tent for more specific needs.

“There are so many hurting people right now. As we pray, we can see the power of God and the different resolutions people need in their lives” Scott opined. “Prayer is important because it’s the avenue that God chooses to work in order for things to take place in the earth. He has chosen to partner with us in the earth for his will to be done.”

What's In Your Fiery Furnace

Once again God spoke through first lady Co-Pastor Barbara Davis with passion and power. She proposed a few questions; what's in your fiery furnace? Are there scars buried so deep inside of you that you have finally come to the conclusion you cannot fix them yourself? Is reality staring you in the face? Well, only Jesus can heal you by humbling yourself and acknowledging you need Him. She spoke on how acknowledgment is good for the soul, especially your own.

"Don't be a leaky Christian they received the word of God, but it comes out as quickly as it goes in".

Lady Davis spoke on how God did his work. How Jesus suffered, was beaten, whipped, flesh torn from his body, and bruised. She also indicated all the suffering and pain that he went through for us [Isaiah 53: 5]. Now here's the question; are you willing to at least meet God halfway? It was not easy for Him, what makes you think that it will be easy for you? It is better to suffer with Christ, to go through and achieve than to stay in pain and die in sin. She also spoke of seeking his face. Seek the Lord and study to learn the things that please Him. It is not a great mystery to want to know the things that put a smile on the face of the one who loves you so. For the Lord should always come first [Matthews 6:33].

Another topic she spoke on was lust. Women who are seeking a husband ...STOP...! If it is a husband that you desire, let God bring him to you. OR "You can find yourself only with a pair of pants".

She emphasized how important it is to listen to your leaders in your church. They constantly seek the face of God and study His word because they care for every soul of their flock. Lady Davis also spoke on the subject of restoring health [Exodus 15: 26]. God is faithful to heal you and the wonderful thing about it is "when He heals you "he doesn't leave scars".

Having fear of the Lord, meaning having great respect for the Lord. Giving him reverence and loving Him with all that is in you.

First lady Davis spoke on shame, don't be afraid to talk to your children about your life experiences. Let them know that your life wasn't perfect. You had to learn the ways of the Lord also. Teach them to bring the Lord into their heart and mind, and in all things, see His goodness. Plant good seed into them so that when you are not around, the Word, will always whisper in their ears.

We say we love Him, let this be the day that we show Him!

Women Connected with Purpose

First Lady Barbara Davis spoke with passion and power on a Saturday afternoon. She spoke about when the first woman was created, she was created with a purpose (Genesis 2:21-22). Even with us, God saw our purpose before we left our mothers’ womb.

She spoke on the challenges that we go through in life. She also spoke about the choices we make in the beginning. Because there is a purpose in our lives, change is inevitable and His voice becomes more powerful than the voices of the world.

Women of God constantly seek his face. It gives them the pleasure to know what pleases Him. The Lord is forever on their minds, their hearts, and on their lips. She keeps the Lord before her marriage and instills Gods' word in her children and grandchildren. For we are not just women we are women connected with purpose.

“Women Connected with Purpose” will nurture their children, love their husbands while, enduring hardships, and withstanding pain as they seek the Lord’s face; therefore, they will trust in Him.

Without Walls Night of Prayer - August 9, 2017

Once again, several different churches came together to represent UNITY at High Rock Church in Lexington North Carolina. ONE WORD can change a community, no longer walking with our eyes closed, but AWAKENING to the knowledge that without the SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD there is no hope. As our communities came together for that very call to break and pull down the walls of the VISION of God’s people pastors from different churches spoke these very topics. Prayer teams prayed before the ceremony, and great fellowship followed afterward.

It is clear God has given the leaders of Without Walls a VISION that was revealed on this night. That there is a ministry for the community of Lexington, NC that will spread throughout the county and state. Without Walls, really means, no walls, as there are plans in the near future to have some of the “Night of Prayer” outdoors.

Nothing is more glorious than to see everyone come together in a knowledge that there is only one God, One Savior, and One Blood. That is our drive and I passion as one people, who will pray here together here in this town of Lexington North Carolina. For we declare in Jesus name that this will be a city “WITHOUT WALLS COLLECTIVE”.

Servant's House Ministry Celebrating Our 11th Year Anniversary

Servant's House Ministry celebrated their 11th Year Anniversary on July 23, 2017. There were songs by Servant's House Ministry praise and worship team, and songs by New Hope Holiness children's and adult praise and worship team.

The guest speaker was Bishop Green, from New Hope Holiness church, His Topic was on The Guiding Light he brought the word in with him, and it was strong, there was deliverance and break through's. Bishop Green had such an anointing on him It was definitely a place to be in, the Holy Spirit was definitely in the house. If anybody came in there feeling like their whole world was upside down, they left feeling at peace with themselves.

Women's Network Prayer Brunch

April 29, 2017, was the annual Prayer Brunch at Servant's House Ministry, located at 601 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington NC 27292.

At the annual Prayer Brunch, breakfast was served, there was plenty to eat, the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming, everyone had a chance to socialize and meet new people. When the Praise and Worship Team of Servant's House Ministry sang, you could feel the holy spirit all over in the place.

The guest speaker was Co-Pastor Anita Scott, she brought the word in with her. There was healing, deliverance and break through's. It was definitely a place to be for anyone that was looking to turn their life around, or a different way of thinking, especially when you have tried everything else, and nothing has been working out. To connect with people that can lead you in the direction you want to go in.
